Acceptable use

A short list of things you must not make with this product, and the two rules that matter most: it has to be your face, and it has to be true.

It has to be your face

A twin avatar may only be built from photographs of you. Before one is built we ask you to confirm that the photos are of yourself, and we record that confirmation.

You may not upload or generate:

  • Anybody else’s face — a friend, a partner, a client, an employee, a stock model.
  • A public figure: a politician, an actor, a musician, an influencer, a CEO.
  • Anybody under 18, in any context, including your own childhood photographs.
  • A face taken from the internet, a dataset, or a photo you do not have the right to use.
  • A composite designed to look like a particular real person.

A designed persona that does not resemble any real person is fine. “Not a real person” means not recognisable as one, not just renamed.

It has to be true

Do not use the product to make claims that did not happen. Specifically, no:

  • Invented testimonials, reviews, DMs, screenshots or case studies.
  • Earnings claims — “I made $40k last month” — unless it happened and you can evidence it.
  • Results or outcome promises: income, weight loss, follower growth, exam passes, health improvements.
  • Fake scarcity, fake countdowns, fake student or customer numbers.
  • Implying an endorsement, partnership or press coverage you do not have.

The writing tools draw only on what you told them about yourself, and only use numbers from your own proof points. If a number appears in a draft that you cannot stand behind, take it out before you post.

Other people's work

Only upload, and only generate with, material you have the right to use. That means no photos, logos, artwork, music, screenshots or text that belong to someone else unless they have given you permission or a licence covers it.

  • Do not use a brand name or trademark in a way that suggests a partnership, sponsorship or approval you do not have.
  • Do not copy another creator’s post word for word, or reproduce their photos or clips. Being inspired by someone is fine; passing off their work is not.

If you believe your own work has been used on the service without permission, the terms of service say how to send a copyright complaint and what happens next.

Say it was made with AI

Instagram, TikTok, YouTube and others require AI-generated or significantly AI-edited media to be labelled, and advertising regulators in many countries require the same. Labelling is your job, on the platform, at the moment you post. We do not do it for you.

Do not present a generated photo or clip as documentary evidence of something that happened: a place you were, a product you used, an event you attended.

Never

  • Sexual content, nudity, or anything sexualised. There are no exceptions and no private exceptions.
  • Any sexual or suggestive depiction of a minor, real or generated. We report this.
  • Harassment, bullying, threats, or content targeting a private individual.
  • Hate speech, or content demeaning people for who they are.
  • Impersonating a real person, a brand, a journalist or an official body.
  • Content made to deceive people about a real event: something that happened, or did not, in the world.
  • Political persuasion, election material, or anything presented as news.
  • Medical, legal, financial or psychological advice presented as professional advice.
  • Promoting illegal goods or services, self-harm, disordered eating, or dangerous acts.
  • Using the output for spam, or for bulk messages to people who did not ask for them.
  • Scraping the product, reselling generations as your own service, or automating it against our terms.

Be careful with

Regulated subjects — health, money, supplements, cosmetic procedures, gambling, alcohol, children’s products — have their own advertising rules wherever you post. They apply to you, not to us. Before and after images, in particular, are restricted or banned in several countries.

What happens if you break this

We may remove content, pause generating, suspend the account or close it, depending on what happened. For anything serious — a minor, non-consensual likeness, sexual content — the account is closed immediately and, where the law requires it, reported. Where it is safe and lawful, we will tell you why first and give you a chance to fix it.

The AI providers we use apply their own safety filters on top of this, and will sometimes refuse a perfectly innocent request. A refusal is not an accusation.

Telling us about a problem

If you think someone has used this product to depict you without your consent, or to make a claim about you that is untrue, write to support@aiavatarauthority.com with the details. We treat likeness reports as urgent.

This policy is part of the terms of service.
